European Geostrategy aims to take part in the debate about the character, ambition and scope of European foreign, security and military issues from a geostrategic standpoint by providing a regular flow of analysis, commentary and opinion. Feedback – which can be provided using the reply function at the bottom of each article, Long Post, book review and interview – is most welcome on all content.

Although European Geostrategy was founded in 2009 – the original website on Ideas on Europe can be found here – it underwent substantial modernisation in November 2013, in light of receiving over half a million unique visitors. It now includes five Senior Editors, several Associate Editors and a growing number of Contributors. As per European Geostrategy’s disclaimer, all authors only assume responsibility for their own contributions, and are not collectively responsible for any content on this website.


ISN partnerThe International Relations and Security Network (ISN) is one of the world’s leading open access information services for both professionals and students who focus on international relations (IR) and security studies. Established in 1994, the ISN’s mission is to facilitate security-related dialogue and cooperation within a trusted network of international relations organisations, professionals and experts, and to provide open-source international relations and security-related tools and materials in accessible ways. The ISN is an online project of the Center for Security Studies (CSS), at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). It is jointly funded by the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) and ETH Zurich.
